There has been a lot of new brunch spots opening in Jakarta lately. Mr Sunday would be one who join the crowd.
The place wasn’t too spacious, it’s decorated homey-style. It was well-lit, perfect for you food bloggers who would like to snap your dish, or an avid fashion blogger that wants to shoot their OOTD pictures. I can picture a scene from a movie where the cast is sitting here quietly working, or simply have a nice chat with some friends.
Though the ambiance was nice, one improvement I would really love is if they could separate the smoking and non-smoking area. Though they have 2 separate areas, because the place is quite small, it really doesn’t make a lot of difference between the smoking and non-smoking area.
Even though Mr. Sunday give more of a coffee-shop vibe, they also serve a variety of brunch menus.
This was actually pretty nice. The chicken was lean and easy to cut – perfect for dieters, it also tastes mild and pleasant from the cream of mushroom. There’s a slight fragrant of ginger when I taste the roasted potatoes, which makes it all the more refreshing.
This was an ‘always mentioned’ menu in quite a low of reviews I’ve been browsing through before coming to Mr Sunday, however, I would like to say otherwise. It tastes decent, but I just thought that the price is too much for the quality and quantity of the dish. The pork belly was too dry and a bit bland for my taste. The bread used was too soft and not crispy enough.
One plus point would be the Sambal Matah. It wasn’t too spicy, but the fragrant from the Sambal Matah really adds a lot to improve this dish!
The coffee here at Mr Sunday has a sour after-taste. Since coffee-judging isn’t truly my forte, I can’t really say much except the fact that coffee with sour after-taste doesn’t really suite me.
As Mr Sunday started as an online Brownies shop, I feel like this should be the highlight of our visit. I really wanted to try the cream cheese and eggless Lindt chocolate brownies because some of my friends say they were better, but unfortunately they were sold out for the day 😦
Personally I like the brownies from another brand originating at Bandung better than this one, especially after considering the price per slice of brownie. However, this one is still quite delicious too! The salted caramel was quite distinguished so you can really feel and taste it when you eat it.
Mr Sunday is definitely a new establishment, some areas in the building has yet to be developed. Though it really has some room for improvement here and there, it’s still a decent place to hangout and chat with your friends.
