Claypot Popo – Sabang, Jakarta

Claypot Popo just recently opened a new branch at Sabang, Jakarta! I came across Claypot Popo for the first time in their first branch at Sabang, Jakarta. They were really famous for their hot pot dishes, it was love at first bite!

Claypot Siram Telur Mentah/Matang – IDR28,000

These are one of their special favorite menus. It’s Indonesian/Chinese style baked rice in traditional hot claypot, topped with thick, gooey, and SUPER savory gravy soup, eggs (you can have it well done or raw), bits of chopped carrots and corn, and pieces of minced chicken/beef.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! don’t worry because the raw egg yolk will gradually get cooked along with the piping hot claypot while giving a unique creamy texture. It’s soft yet a bit crispy towards the bottom of the claypot. Favorite by far!

Claypot Misua Tahu Telor Asin – IDR28,000

I can’t choose which one I like better, Claypot with Misua or the other one mentioned previously. Misua is Chinese-styled Vermicilli noodles out of wheat flour. It’s one of my favorite Chinese noodle variation of all times.

The Misua at Claypot Popo has a very nice texture – thin and soft, yet it’s not so fragile as to break so easily. They also mix bits of salted eggs and tofu which really enhance the taste and fragrance of the whole dish. loved it!

Sapi Cah Bawang Putih – IDR42,000

This is a simple Claypot Rice with Garlic Beef but it was simply so addicting. The garlic was quite strong yet it doesn’t make you nauseous. The rice wasn’t too wet nor too dry either. Must try!

Nasi Dadar Claypot – IDR23,000

It’s not bad, but it’s the most ‘ordinary’ out of the others. It’s very similar to Indonesian Fried rice with anchovies. Still worth the try though.

Cah Fu Mak

Feeling like you need to add some greens to your diet? No worries they have some for you! It wasn’t anything out of the ordinary, but the vegetable was so green and fresh, not overcooked so it’s still crispy and crunchy!

Overall I thought that the food served at Claypot Popo was worth it. It was mostly delicious and they charged a very affordable price for quite a satisfying portion too! Definitely worth your visit!
