Mo-Mo Paradise – PIK, Jakarta

There’s a new All You Can Eat authentic Shabu-Shabu restaurant in town and it’s called Mo-Mo Paradise! I was so thrilled to be invited because I missed their media/blogger event when they first open in late January.

Mo-Mo Paradise is the first branch to open in Jakarta. It’s an original franchise from Japan that already have successful branch in various countries like the US, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan,-etc. Even the senior staff was trined in Japan for one whole month!

It was a simple yet pleasantly decorated Japanese restaurant. They got 2 floors, with VIP rooms on the second floor.

I love the way they put up their vegetables. It looks so vibrant, fresh, and colorful! The staff explained to me that everything is prepared fresh everyday. Any leftovers would be thrown away (too bad!) to ensure its freshness.

Price

Now on to the price!  They served US Beef and Wagyu. In the US Beef package, you’ll get US Chuck Eye Roll & US Short Plate for IDR158,000++ (Lunch) & IDR198,000++ (Dinner).

The Wagyu package is a bit different. If you only opt for Wagyu, you’ll get the US AND Wagyu Chuck Eye Roll, & the US AND Wagyu Short Plate for IDR248,000++ (Lunch) & IDR348,000 (Dinner).

The second Wagyu Package includes Tounge (Gyutan). So you’ll get ALL type of beef mentioned above (Both US & Wagyu Chueck Eye Roll and Short Plate) PLUS the Beef Tounge! The pricing for this package is IDR298,000++ (Lunch) and IDR398,000++(Dinner).

All the beef served is of top quality – Grade 9, they do not serve any other beef below that standard.

Soup Variations

They served 3 types of Soup – Sukiyaki, Original, and Kimchi. You can get mixed soup too. I personally loved the Original and Kimchi because I prefer savory than sweet soup. The Original soup was a bit bland yet still very fragrant because of the pure both. The kimchi was a bit spicy yet refreshing a satisfying!

I learned a LOT from my visit to Mo-Mo Paradise (and the staff will always explain to you on the proper guide in eating Shabu-Shabu!). For example, I just knew that the eggs served were actually not meant to be mixed and cooked along with the soup, but the raw eggs was used as the SAUCE for the sukiyaki soup! I was a bit intrigued at first but it turned out to be good! They use Omega 3 eggs so that it doesn’t have any fishy smell too!

For Sukiyaki, it’s recommended to use beef slices with more fat (Short Plate), so that the fat will melt and adds more savory taste towards the sweet Sukiyaki Soup. The beef with less fat (Chuck Eye Roll) is recommended for the Original soup. You could choose any for the Kimchi soup.

For dessert, they also serve ice cream and mochi! I love their mochi – pandan & red bean! It wasn’t as gooey as your normal mochi, but it was still soft and rich in flavor. It wasn’t too sweet and the amount of filling inside was just right. Loved it!

It’s definitely worth it. All of the meat slices were so tender and juicy. The vegetables was fresh and the service was superb! Definitely another must try Shabu-Shabu place in town!
