CulinARTSdaily was invited to attend a foodie gathering event held by Omija at Supermall Karawaci. Omija is a fairly recent modern Korean cafe serving light bites and beverage. It is the ‘brainchild’ of Born Ga – another top-notch authentic Korean restaurant.
Omija Tea – IDR29,000++
This was said to be their signature drink, so I decided to give it a try. Though dubbed as a ‘tea’ beverage, the Omija Tea was actually a result of brewing dried ‘Omija’ Fruit! I googled it and Omija fruit is also called five-flavor berry or Magnolia berry in English!
It was the perfect sweet & sour combination! Light and refreshing with bits of Omija fruit! It looks like dried cranberry at first glance!
Omija Frappe – IDR26,000++ (Small)/IDR39,000++ (Regular)
The Omija Frappe tastes like Omija Milkshake. It was quite nice too since it’s milkier yet not as thick and sweet as your normal milkshake. Still refreshing!
Omaffin – IDR9,500/pcs
This is the signature ‘dessert’ at Omija! The OMAFFIN! Sounds so cute and funny isn’t it? The Omaffin, in my opnion, is a combination of Muffin and croissants. It taste more like croissants then muffin, but it was OK. I love the lemon cream cheese flavor best. The slight lemon twist really give a kick of refreshing sensation!
Spicy Cheese Tteokbokki – IDR39,000++
It was blazing red in color, and since i can’t stand food that is too spicy, I was a bit intimidated at first. However, it turned out to be much better then i expected! The Tteokbokki was nice and chewy but not too hard and rubbery. It was spicy yet not too spicy and not overly sweet or sour either. They also have bits of Oden (fishcakes) inside!
I really hoped they put in more mozzarella cheese in it because it could be really worth it!
RW Bokky IDR39,000++
This tastes exactly like the spicy cheese Tteokbokki, except they use half the Tteokbboki and replace it with noodles. There’s no mozzarella inside too. I personally like the spicy cheese tteokbokki better just because I love cheese!
Bibimbap – IDR42,000++
The portion was HUGE! Topped with colorful topping variety, it was such a sight to behold. When mixed with their special sauce, the flavor really came out and compliment each other well. Loved it!
Chicken Steak – IDR49,000++
This was their favorite item and I can fully understand why. It was DELICIOUS! They serve it with 4 sauce choices – Teriyaki, BBQ, Cream Cheese, and Spicy Korean Sauce. I tried the Teriyaki & Spicy Korean Sauce and I would definitely recommend the Teriyaki sauce chicken steak!
The chicken was so tender and flavorful, and the sweet and savory teriyaki flavor was so delicious! The thin chicken skin was also slightly crisp, further enhancing the aroma of the chicken steak. LOVED IT!
Overall it was a pleasant experience at Omija. The signature Omaffin was quite nice, yet I would come back for their chicken steak and Omija tea! Perfect for small gathering with friends!
